JAN 10, 2013: Food retailer Morrisons is joining forces with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) to try and help secure the future of one of Britain’s rarest breeds of cattle.
With fewer than 150 breeding females, the Whitebred Shorthorn is rarer than the Giant Panda and is believed to have untapped commercial potential.
Five Whitebred Shorthorn cattle with rare bloodlines have been purchased with help from The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation. To ensure a spread of genetics, the cattle have been sourced from three different herds and RBST has worked closely with the Whitebred Shorthorn Association.
