PUBLISHED: 14:28 28 March 2008 | UPDATED: 08:23 28 March 2014

MARCH 28, 2008: Defra has announced that the Bluetongue Protection Zone has been extended following confirmation of another case of the disease.

The Protection Zone has been extended into Wiltshire and further into Hampshire after disease was confirmed on a farm in the New Forest District.

The new case was discovered following pre-movement testing during the vector free season which ended on March 15 and Defra believe the animals were infected last year.

The latest case brings the total number of confirmed infected premises in England and Wales to 110 since the disease first appeared in September last year.
