Chicken campaigners in Tesco protest

PUBLISHED: 15:52 30 March 2008 | UPDATED: 08:23 28 March 2014

MARCH 28, 2008: Three Tesco stores in Sheffield will be the target of
protests this week in an effort to persuade the supermarket giant to
improve animal welfare policies.

Previously Portsmouth stores were hit the campaign. Compassion campaigners and local supporters distributed hundreds of Compassionate Shopping Guides to Tesco shoppers and handed in a letter to store managers calling on them to strengthen their policies on farm animal welfare and improve the lives of millions of chickens.

The 'Stop Being Rotten To Chickens' protest is a recent project of the Compassion in World Farming campaigners, who will demonstrate at three different stores Sheffield next Wednesday.

Last week there was a similar protest outside the Tesco store in Axminster, Devon.
