OCTOBER 16, 2009: A newly-designed 170-acre food and farming enterprise is producing local, ecologically farmed food.

Church Farm, Ardeley, in Hertfordshire, includes a farm store, cafe, tea rooms, woods, walks, an 8-acre kitchen garden, as well as cattle, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese, all roaming free range.

Farmer and entrepreneur Tim Waygood devised the local alternative to the supermarket and industrial chain. He said: “The farm is a renaissance of mixed farming, growing food with nature, with maximum variety and at least 50% less fossil fuel.”
