Horticulture 'needs new image'

DECEMBER 2007: The horticulture industry must change its image and raise its profile
if it wants to be an attractive career choice for young people,
delegates have been told at a seminar.

Leigh Morris, chairman of the Green Skills Careers Marketing Initiative steering group, highlighted further steps that need to be taken if youngsters are to consider horticulture as a career.

The steering group is made up of 12
organisations including the NFU which have pledged support to the development of a marketing strategy to promote the sector.
